Food from the Sky
When I met Azul-Valerie Thome at a workshop in spring this year she told me about Food from the Sky, a project she had set up on the roof of Budgens in Crouch End. I was fascinated by everything about this. How did it come about? What led her to even think of growing organic food on the roof of a supermarket?
I went back on a wet and wintery late May day to photograph the harvest and interview Azul, and I put some of the interview and photos together in this audio slideshow. It’s a first attempt at multimedia storytelling ahead of a workshop with Duckrabbit later this month. I’m looking forward to learning how to do it better (not interviewing next to a coffee machine would probably be a good first step), but I’m pleased with it and really excited about the possibilities of working in this way in the future.
